Ready to quote as-is. If a figure here is out of date, the version on this page is the correct one.

In one line

“Provision counts the emergency food, water and fuel a household already keeps, and works out how many days it would genuinely cover — not how many days are sitting on the shelf.”

Boilerplate

Provision is an emergency store tracker for households that already keep one. It counts the food, water, fuel and medicine in the house and works out how long it would really last.

The distinction it exists for is between what is on the shelf and what a household would actually eat. Rather than dividing total calories by a daily rate, Provision walks forward one day at a time, consumes the soonest-dated stock first, and discards whatever expires before it is reached. The gap between the two figures is usually larger than people expect, and it is invisible until something is opened.

It tracks expiry dates and publishes them as a private feed to the user’s own calendar, so reminders arrive somewhere they already look. It identifies which category is holding the total back — most often water — so that money spent on supplies goes to the thing that actually moves the number. Barcode scanning fills in names and nutrition from an open database.

Provision is free to use, including getting your data back out. An optional Plus subscription adds scenario planning, a separate go bag judged against 72 hours, and nutrition rather than calories alone. It is built in the UK by an independent developer.

What it is not

Worth stating plainly, because the category attracts assumptions.
